Oxwich beach: where Margaret met John in Copperopolis
This is one of my favourite beaches in Gower, and also a significant one for my family.
It is over two miles long, and at low water you can walk all the way from Oxwich to Three Cliffs.
Margaret Morris, at 17, was daughter of a farming family in Penmaen and caring for her elderly aunt. She would ride in the mornings on Oxwich beach all the way to Oxwich church.
There she met John Clement, a sailor, whose family were farm labourers living on the top of the cliff at Oxwich Green.
If Margaret and John had not met here, then I would not exist, as they are my great-great-grandparents.
And my debut novel Copperopolis would never have been written.
