Book event Cover to Cover, Mumbles, 12 Sep 26

Cover to Cover is the leading indie bookshop in the Swansea area, and its location in Mumbles is at the heart of the Copperopolis story.

On a drizzly, blustery Saturday the Cover to Cover team put on a great display for Copperopolis.

I shared the history behind the book - the copper boom in Swansea, and the bravery of the sailors on the ships rounding Cape Horn on route to Chile to collect copper ore to be smelted with Welsh coal.

One reader explained that his great grandfather was also a Cape Horner. There are clearly many other maritime stories to be uncovered locally.

I really enjoyed chatting to readers about my research and my writing process.
